With over 50 years of regulatory and surveying experience, Ric Singley and Jeff Lewis bring together their own unique talents to offer you the complete package. Each of them have been working in and around the Gulf of Mexico “Oil Patch” for decades, but their experience goes much further. Able to draw upon the talents of many other professionals in the industry, no job is too big, or too small. S & L Maritime has partnered with Naval Architects, Marine Engineers, Cargo Surveyors, Metallurgists, etc., to put a wealth of knowledge at your fingertips.

 

Ric Singley - Retired in 2003 from the U.S. Coast Guard after 22 years. Ric has been actively involved ever since with maritime companies to ensure regulatory compliance. Among the first to become qualified as a Responsible Carrier Program (RCP) auditor by the American Waterways Operators, his expertise in "Brown Water" vessels and operations was essential in helping new operating companies become RCP certified and later Subchapter M compliant. Today, he is certified by TVIB as a RCP Lead Auditor, Subchapter M Lead Auditor, Subchapter M Surveyor, Drydock and Internal Structural Exam surveyor, and Designated Examiner as well as certified by the National Association of Marine Surveyors (NAMS) in Hull & Machinery. He has also been approved by other TPO's to conduct audits and surveys on their behalf. Ric has been actively involved in numerous project management activities ranging from vessel conversions, new construction projects, and Safety Management System development.

Jeff Lewis- Retired from the U.S. Coast Guard as a Marine Inspector, Jeff has 30 years of experience working with many types of marine assets.  Responsibilities include conducting inspections and surveys of both inland and ocean-going vessels.  Certified by TVIB and recognized by other TPO’s as a Subchapter M Surveyor, Lead Auditor, and Drydock/Internal Structural Exam Surveyor, Jeff’s currently very active conducting audits and surveys.  Jeff is also certified by the National Association of Marine Surveyors (NAMS), as a Hull and Machinery Surveyor, and in addition to the Subchapter M auditing and surveying, he stays busy conducting pre-purchase, general condition and valuation, new construction, and damage/repair surveys of all types of water transportation.

Anthony Allen- Joined the S & L Maritime Consulting team in 2018 after working over 8 years with Austal Shipyard in Mobile, Alabama.  During his time at Austal he gained experience in general shipboard systems but primarily knowledge applies to structural fit, welding, and nondestructive testing.  Anthony is also certified by the Towing Vessel Inspection Bureau as a subchapter M surveyor, currently his duties include towing vessel new construction project oversight and subchapter M compliance surveys.
